The new owner of this cafe contacted us to do a Fire Risk Assessment on this premises.
It never had one prior and understanding the new regulations they knew they required one.
We visited the premises and even though it is only a small premise the owner benefitted having a professional.assessment as it made them aware of several issues regarding cooking, compartmentation and sleeping above.
They have now put the actions in place the report raised to ensure full safety for there staff and other residents.
“Little Red Sandwich Shop” is a small, independently owned cafe located in a busy area. The cafe has a seating capacity of 20 and employs 2 staff members, including kitchen and serving staff. The cafe operates daily from 7 AM to 7 PM, serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, pastries, and light meals.
Below is a rough summary of some of the good practices, issues and actions required after our qualified assessor arrived out the assessment.
- High risk in the kitchen area due to open flames and hot appliances.
- Moderate risk in the seating area from portable heaters and electrical equipment.
- Low risk in storage areas if materials are properly managed.
- Ensure regular maintenance of all electrical and kitchen equipment.
- Store cooking oils and flammable materials away from heat sources.
